First Presbyterian Church, Parsons, KS
First Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the PC(USA)
The first Christian missionary of any denomination to come to what would become the state of Kansas was Rev. Benton Pixley, a Presbyterian sent out in 1824. The Presbyterian church in Parsons was founded in 1871. The congregation has had three homes in Parsons. The first was a wooden church. In 1907, the Gothic Revival style church with stained glass windows at 1700 Broadway was built. The congregation worked and worshipped there until 2023 when we moved to 1500 S. 29th and became part of Shared Faith Community.
Presbyterians have a long history of service to the community of Parsons. That history of service continues. We are committed to knowing God and making the love of God known to others.
